Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste

Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste is the trading name for the Sustainable North Trust, a registered, charitable, environmental education trust. The programmes it runs are community enterprises - if profits are made they go to create new jobs, improve work sites and expand educational programmes. Find out what programmes we run below.

Our Programmes

  • Zero Waste Events

We work with events that want to be zero waste. We provide waste services including bins, educational posters as well as capture impact data for you and your event.

  • Eco Calendar

    What’s on the Hibiscus Coast.

  • City to Farm

City to Farm collects food scraps across north Auckland for composting on local farms. By helping businesses participate in climate change solutions, we have diverted over 100 tonnes of food scraps from landfill.

  • The Green Scheme

Green Scheme Certificates are given to business partners who are taking action and making effort to operate in a more sustainable and environmental way.

  • Eco Party Kit Hire

We have re-usable kits available to hire for your party. Ditch the single use tableware by utilising our local option to re-use.

  • Early Childhood Programme

The Eco ECE Programme provides FREE educational activities and a customised plan to minimise waste in Early Childhood Learning Centres across the Hibiscus Coast and Bays area.

  • Orewa Repair Cafe

1st Saturday of the month - get your household items repaired by volunteers for free.

  • School Programme

The Carbon Sinking School Programme teaches students the value of food scraps as a resource for composting and soil building. It is targeted at intermediate age students and is run by our facilitators.
