Why we have to charge

With the closure of off-shore markets, local markets are flooded. The value of NZ’s recyclable commodities have dropped so low we can no longer cover the transport costs into Auckland.
Items we don't accept

The Recycling Centre is not a transfer station and doesn’t accept general waste, green waste, construction and demolition waste, textiles, clothes, gas bottles, aerosol cans, household goods, furniture, bedding, mattresses, car seats.

General recycling should be cleaned and sorted into categories.
